NOTES:

  1. One of the infantry battalions in each regiment is made up of reservists called to service in time of war.
  2. In some divisions the three 105mm battalions are replaced by three M109A2 battalions (by the late 1990s most divisions were equipped in this fashion or with the new K9 Thunder).
  3. During the 1990s the 90mmRCL were replaced by Panzerfaust 3 while the 106mmRCL were replaced by I-TOW. The 107mm mortars were replaced by indigenous 120mm mortars. Two autoGL stands were introduced in the battalion heavy weapons company.
  4. The division operates in mobile warfare using the RCT system. Each RCT is an infantry regiment supported by an armour company, artillery battalion and engineer company.

Notes:
1) MBTS: M-48 A5, K-1, or K-1 A1        APCS: M-113 or KIFV
2) Brigades are mix and match, situationally dependant.  A Brigade HQ takes what is needed for the mission, usually 3 or 4 manuever battalions. In the 1980s through the early 1990s the nine manuever battalions of the ROK Mechanized Divisions were a mix of 3 Mech, 3 Armor, and 3 Motorized. The Motorized Battalions were equipped with the KM-900 Wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier (a copy of the Fiat Type 6614)
